Ibrahim ibn Hajjaj

d. c. 910 · 10th century

Ibrahim ibn Hajjaj was an Arab noble of Seville who made the city an autonomous lordship during the fitna that shook the Emirate of Córdoba in the late 9th century. Nominally loyal to the emir, he ruled as an independent prince, kept a court of poets and scholars, and made Seville a cultural rival of Córdoba.
