Indo-Scythians

2nd century BCE–4th century CE · 2nd century BCE · Also known as Indo-Scythian, Indo-Scythian kingdoms

The Indo-Scythians were Saka groups who moved from Central Asia through Sistan and Gandhara into north-western India from the late second century BCE. Kings such as Maues and Azes I ruled Gandhara and the Punjab in the first century BCE, and Saka satrap dynasties, notably the Western Kshatrapas of Gujarat and Malwa, lasted until about 400 CE. Their coins and inscriptions mixed Greek, Indian and Iranian traditions.
