Irkutsk
Irkutsk is a city in eastern Siberia, Russia, on the Angara river near Lake Baikal. Founded as a Cossack fort in 1661, it became the administrative centre of eastern Siberia and a hub of trade with China and Mongolia, and many exiled Decembrists settled there. In February 1920 the White leader Alexander Kolchak was handed over to the Bolsheviks there and shot.
