Kapan

Kapan is a town in southern Armenia, the capital of Syunik Province, in the valley of the Voghji river. In the Middle Ages it was a fortress and seat of the kings of Syunik, and the area has long been known for its copper mines. In the 18th century it was a centre of David Bek's rising against Persian and Ottoman rule.
