Kerkennah Islands

Also known as Cercina

The Kerkennah Islands are a low-lying group of islands in the Gulf of Gabès off the coast of Sfax in Tunisia. Inhabited since antiquity, they were known to the Romans as Cercina and have long lived from fishing. In 1284 they were seized together with Djerba by the admiral Roger of Lauria for the Crown of Aragon and Sicily.
