Khorramabad

Khorramabad is the capital of Lorestan province in western Iran, in a valley of the Zagros Mountains. Prehistoric caves nearby show very long settlement, and the town grew around the citadel of Falak-ol-Aflak. It was the seat of the Khurshidid atabegs of Lesser Luristan from the late 12th century and later of the valis of Luristan under the Safavids and Qajars.
