Kitob
Kitob is a town in the Qashqadaryo region of southern Uzbekistan, close to Shahrisabz. Under the emirate of Bukhara it formed with Shahrisabz an oasis of semi-independent Uzbek beks, who repeatedly resisted Bukharan rule until the Russians handed the area to Bukhara in 1870. It is known for an international latitude observatory founded in 1930.
