Kurgan
A kurgan is a burial mound raised over a grave, a form of tomb common across the Eurasian steppe from prehistoric times. Elite Xiongnu burials were placed in such mounds, and their contents, including Chinese bronzes, Bactrian gold work and Roman glassware, reveal the wide reach of Xiongnu commercial networks.
