Lisht

Also known as el-Lisht

Lisht, or el-Lisht, is a village and archaeological site on the west bank of the Nile south of Memphis in Egypt. It holds the pyramids of Amenemhat I and Senusret I, the first two kings of the Twelfth Dynasty, surrounded by tombs of their officials. The cemetery served the nearby royal residence of Itjtawy, whose exact site is unknown, and has been excavated since the late 19th century.
