Lleida
Lleida is a city on the Segre in western Catalonia, Spain, capital of the province of the same name. It grew from Iltirta, the chief town of the Iberian Ilergetes, which became Roman Ilerda, where Julius Caesar defeated Pompey's legates in 49 BCE. Under Muslim rule it was a frontier stronghold and the seat of a taifa, until the counts of Barcelona and Urgell took it in 1149.
