Maka (satrapy)
Maka was a province of the Achaemenid Persian Empire, listed in inscriptions of Darius I from the late 6th century BCE and usually located on both shores of the Strait of Hormuz, in modern Oman and the Makran coast of Iran. Its name is thought to continue the ancient Magan of Mesopotamian texts. Its people, the Mykians, appear in Herodotus' list of the empire's tribute-paying peoples.
