Mawla Ali

d. c. 1460 · 15th century · Also known as Sultan Ali Musha'sha

Mawla Ali was the son of Muhammad ibn Falah, founder of the Musha'sha movement in Khuzestan. Holding extreme Shia beliefs, he proclaimed that Ali ibn Abi Talib was divine and in 1453 led his followers to sack Najaf, including the shrine of Ali. He was killed in battle around 1460, and the Musha'sha later moderated their doctrines.
