Ndwandwe–Zulu War
The Ndwandwe–Zulu War was fought between the Ndwandwe under Zwide and the rising Zulu kingdom of Shaka in what is now KwaZulu-Natal. After the Zulu repulsed an attack at Gqokli Hill in 1818, Shaka defeated the Ndwandwe at the Mhlatuze River in 1819. The Ndwandwe confederacy broke up, its groups scattered as far as present-day Mozambique, Malawi and Tanzania, and the Zulu dominated the region.
