New Oyo
New Oyo was the reduced successor state of the Oyo Empire, founded further south after the capital Oyo-Ile was abandoned around 1835–1836. The dynasty continued to rule from the new centre. According to the Oyo Empire profile, it survived as a British protectorate from 1888 until its final formal dissolution in 1896.
