Niksar
Niksar is a town in Tokat Province, northern Turkey, on the Kelkit river. As ancient Neocaesarea it was a city of Pontus and the home of the bishop Gregory Thaumaturgus. In the late 11th century it fell to the Danishmendids, for whom it was an early capital, and their mosques, madrasa and tombs survive in the town.
