Nile Valley
The Nile Valley is the narrow strip of fertile land along the River Nile through Sudan and Egypt, watered by its annual flood. It supported the civilisations of ancient Egypt and Nubia and the later states of Kush, the Christian Nubian kingdoms and the Funj. As the main corridor between the Mediterranean and inner Africa, it carried trade, armies and pilgrims for thousands of years.
