Nimlot of Hermopolis

8th century BCE · 8th century BCE · Also known as Namart

Nimlot, also read Namart, was a king of Hermopolis in Middle Egypt in the later 8th century BCE, during the break-up of Egypt's Third Intermediate Period. He joined Tefnakht of Sais against the Kushite king Piye, who besieged Hermopolis and forced his surrender. The Victory Stela of Piye describes the scene, including Piye's anger at the starving horses in Nimlot's stables.
