Thoth

Also known as Djehuty

Thoth was the ancient Egyptian god of writing, wisdom, the moon and reckoning, shown as an ibis-headed man or as a baboon. He was believed to have invented hieroglyphs, kept the records of the gods and written down the verdict when the hearts of the dead were weighed. His chief cult centre was Hermopolis, and the Greeks identified him with Hermes.
