Ogaden
The Ogaden is a plateau and lowland region in the Horn of Africa, today forming part of eastern Ethiopia. Its pastoral hinterland supplied livestock for export and recruits for the Adal Sultanate's armies, drawn largely from Somali and Afar nomads. The sultanate governed a confederation of pastoral and commercial communities across the Ogaden and the Gulf of Aden coast.
