Ogaden War
The Ogaden War was fought between Somalia and Ethiopia in 1977–1978 over the Ogaden, the Somali-inhabited region of eastern Ethiopia. Somali forces invaded in July 1977 and overran most of the region, but the Soviet Union switched its support to Ethiopia's Derg regime, and Soviet arms and advisers, Cuban troops and a South Yemeni contingent helped Ethiopia drive the Somalis out by March 1978.
