Olynthiacs

349–348 BCE · 4th century BCE

The Olynthiacs are three political speeches delivered by the Athenian orator Demosthenes in 349–348 BCE. They urged Athens to send effective help to Olynthus, the leading city of the Chalcidian League, which was under attack by Philip II of Macedon. Athens sent only limited aid, and Philip captured and destroyed Olynthus in 348 BCE.
