Pahar Singh of Faridkot
Pahar Singh was the ruler of the Sikh state of Faridkot in the Punjab from 1827 to 1849. During the First Anglo-Sikh War of 1845–1846 he sided with the British East India Company against the Sikh Empire of Lahore, and he was rewarded with additional land and recognition. His reign secured Faridkot's place as a British-protected princely state, which his descendants ruled until 1948.
