Hamir Singh of Faridkot
Hamir Singh was a Brar Jat Sikh chief who established himself at Faridkot around 1763, as Sikh power spread across the Malwa plains of Punjab after the Durrani wars, founding the ruling house of Faridkot State. His descendants ruled as Rajas, under British protection from the early 19th century, until the state merged into the Patiala and East Punjab States Union in 1948.
