c. 1179–1266 · 13th century · Also known as Fariduddin Ganjshakar, Farid al-Din Masud Ganjshakar

Baba Farid, Fariduddin Masud Ganjshakar, was a Sufi master of the Chishti order in the Punjab, who lived and taught at Ajodhan, now Pakpattan in Pakistan, where his shrine remains a major place of pilgrimage. He was one of the first poets to write in Punjabi, and verses attributed to him are included in the Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh scripture. The town of Faridkot traditionally takes its name from him.
