Panj River
The Panj is the upper course of the Amu Darya in Central Asia, formed by the junction of the Pamir and Wakhan rivers. For much of its length of about 920 kilometres it forms the border between Afghanistan and Tajikistan, a line fixed by Russian and British agreements of the 1890s. It joins the Vakhsh to become the Amu Darya.
