Prophezei

founded 1525 · 16th century

The Prophezei was a school of biblical study founded in Zürich in 1525 by Huldrych Zwingli in place of the old chapter school of the Grossmünster. Clergy and students met daily to read scripture in Hebrew, Greek and Latin and to expound it in German. It trained Reformed ministers, produced the Zürich Bible and was a forerunner of the University of Zürich.
