Sieg (river)

The Sieg is a river in western Germany, about 155 km long, rising in the Rothaar Mountains and flowing west through the Siegerland to join the Rhine near Bonn. In Roman times its valley lay in the land of the Sugambri, and the Siegerland was later an important iron-mining district. The city of Siegen takes its name from it.
