Sodom and Gomorrah

Sodom and Gomorrah are two cities of the Hebrew Bible, described in the Book of Genesis as destroyed by God with fire and brimstone for the wickedness of their inhabitants. Their location, traditionally placed near the Dead Sea, is unknown. In the 1970s claims that the tablets of Ebla mentioned them were widely publicised, but most scholars later rejected these readings.
