Sorbs

Also known as Lusatian Sorbs

The Sorbs are a West Slavic people of Lusatia in eastern Germany, living in Saxony and Brandenburg. Descendants of Slavs who settled between the Elbe and the Oder in the early Middle Ages, they survived the German colonisation of the region and keep their own Upper and Lower Sorbian languages, which are officially protected. Bautzen and Cottbus are their main cultural centres.
