Sparda

c. 546–334 BCE · 6th century BCE · Also known as Satrapy of Lydia

Sparda was the Achaemenid Persian satrapy of Lydia, created after Cyrus the Great conquered the kingdom of Croesus around 546 BCE, with its seat at Sardis. Sardis became the main Persian capital in western Anatolia and the western end of the Royal Road from Susa. The satrapy lasted until Alexander the Great took Sardis in 334 BCE.
