Also known as Karlowitz, Karlovci

Sremski Karlovci is a town on the Danube in Syrmia, now in Serbia. The Treaty of Karlowitz was signed there in 1699, and it became the seat of the Serbian Orthodox metropolitans in the Habsburg Monarchy. In May 1848 the May Assembly held there proclaimed the Serbian Vojvodina.
