St. Gallen
St. Gallen is a city in north-eastern Switzerland, capital of the canton of St. Gallen, south of Lake Constance. It grew around the Abbey of Saint Gall, founded in the 8th century, and became a free imperial city whose linen trade made it wealthy and often set it against the abbots. The abbey precinct, with its baroque cathedral and famous library, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
