Stjepan Radić
Stjepan Radić was a Croatian politician who founded the Croatian Peasant Party with his brother Antun in 1904 and led the Croat opposition to Serbian centralism in the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. Imprisoned in 1925, he then briefly joined the government. In June 1928 a Montenegrin deputy shot him in the parliament in Belgrade, and his death in August led King Alexander to impose a royal dictatorship in 1929.
