Sudak
Sudak is a town on the south-east coast of the Crimea, on the Black Sea. As Soldaia it was a major trading port from the Byzantine era; it was attacked by the Seljuks around 1222 and by the Mongols, and Venetian merchants kept a consulate there. The Genoese took it in 1365 and built its fortress, which survives, before the Ottomans captured it in 1475.
