Takelot II

9th century BCE · 9th century BCE

Takelot II was a king of the Libyan period of Egypt in the second half of the 9th century BCE, usually placed in the Twenty-second Dynasty. His reign was troubled by civil war in Upper Egypt: his son, the Crown Prince Osorkon, served as High Priest of Amun and fought rebels in Thebes, as recorded in the Chronicle of Prince Osorkon at Karnak. Rival kings such as Pedubast I divided the country.
