Tepanecs
The Tepanecs were a Nahua people of the Valley of Mexico whose state, centred on Azcapotzalco, dominated the region in the early fifteenth century. The Mexica of Tenochtitlan initially served them as tributaries and mercenary warriors. Accounts of the Aztec Empire describe how the Tepanec succession crisis after Tezozomoc's death in 1426 led to the war in which the Mexica and their allies destroyed Tepanec hegemony.
