Tepanec War
The Tepanec War was the conflict of 1428 in which the Mexica of Tenochtitlan, allied with Texcoco and Tlacopan, overthrew the dominant Tepanec state of Azcapotzalco. It followed the death of the Tepanec ruler Tezozomoc and the succession struggle that ensued under his son Maxtla. Accounts of the Aztec Empire treat the victory as the founding moment of the empire and of the Triple Alliance.
