Tod (Egypt)

Also known as El-Tod, Djerty

Tod is a village and archaeological site on the east bank of the Nile south of Luxor, in Upper Egypt, ancient Djerty, with a temple of the war god Montu. In 1936 excavators found beneath the temple the Tod Treasure, four bronze chests inscribed for Amenemhat II containing silver vessels, lapis lazuli and other goods from the Aegean, Anatolia and Mesopotamia. The treasure shows the reach of Middle Kingdom exchange.
