Tursunzoda
Tursunzoda is a city in western Tajikistan near the Uzbek border, west of Dushanbe. It grew around a large aluminium smelter opened in the 1970s, now run by the state company TALCO and one of the country's main exporters. Formerly called Regar, the town was renamed in 1978 after the poet Mirzo Tursunzoda.
