Upper Hesse
Upper Hesse is a historical region of central Hesse in Germany, around Giessen and the Vogelsberg hills. From the early nineteenth century until 1937 it was one of the three provinces of the Grand Duchy and then the People's State of Hesse, with Giessen as its seat, separated from the southern provinces of Starkenburg and Rhenish Hesse by territory around Frankfurt.
