Vijaya (Champa)

Also known as Đồ Bàn

Vijaya was a region and capital of Champa in present-day Bình Định province, central Vietnam. From around the 11th century it was the chief royal centre of the Cham kings, with the citadel of Đồ Bàn and many brick towers. The Vietnamese emperor Lê Thánh Tông captured and sacked it in 1471, breaking Champa's power, and the Tây Sơn later made the area their base.
