Wadi Hadhramaut

Wadi Hadhramaut is a long valley system in eastern Yemen, running roughly parallel to the Arabian Sea coast. Watered by seasonal floods, its fields supported the ancient Kingdom of Hadramawt, and in later centuries towns such as Shibam, Seiyun and Tarim grew there, famous for their mud-brick tower houses. The old walled city of Shibam is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
