Wiesbaden
Wiesbaden is the capital of the German state of Hesse, on the right bank of the Rhine opposite Mainz. Its hot springs were used by the Romans, and under the princes of Nassau-Usingen and then as capital of the Duchy of Nassau from 1806 to 1866 it grew into one of Europe's most fashionable spa towns. After annexation by Prussia in 1866 it remained a resort, and it became the capital of Hesse in 1946.
