Yugra
Yugra (Arabic Yura) was the medieval name for the lands and peoples of the far north-east of European Russia and north-western Siberia, around the northern Urals and the lower Ob. Arab writers describe the Yura as a people beyond the Wisu who sold furs to Bulgar merchants, and from the eleventh century Novgorod sent expeditions there for tribute. The Khanty and Mansi are usually seen as their descendants.
