Abu Imran al-Fasi
Abu Imran al-Fasi was a Moroccan Maliki jurist who taught in Kairouan in the early eleventh century. Around 1040 he persuaded the Gudala chieftain Yahya ibn Ibrahim to bring a religious teacher to the Sahara, which led to the arrival of Abdallah ibn Yasin. This encounter is treated as the genesis of the Almoravid Empire.
