Person
Androclus
Androclus was the legendary founder of Ephesus, said to be a son of King Codrus of Athens who led Ionian settlers across the Aegean. According to Strabo and Pausanias, an oracle told him to found a city where a fish and a boar would show him, and he drove out the local Carians and Lelegians. He was honoured in Ephesus as founder hero, with a tomb shown to visitors.
