Antonio Beccadelli
Antonio Beccadelli (1394–1471), called Panormita after his native Palermo, was an Italian humanist and poet. His Latin epigrams, the Hermaphroditus (1425), made him famous and notorious. From the 1430s he served Alfonso V of Aragon as secretary and court scholar in Naples, where the circle of humanists he gathered grew into the academy later named after Giovanni Pontano.
