Asyut

Asyut is a city on the Nile in Upper Egypt. It was the northern terminus of the Darb al-Arba'in, the 'Forty Days Road' caravan route that linked Darfur with Egypt. Through it the Darfur Sultanate and Wadai Empire exported goods such as enslaved people, ivory and ostrich feathers.
