Ayios Vasileios

Ayios Vasileios is a Mycenaean palace site near Xirokambi, south of Sparta in Laconia, Greece. Excavations begun in 2010, after Linear B tablets were found there, uncovered a palace complex with courts, archives and cult rooms. It is the first Mycenaean palace identified in Laconia and has transformed understanding of the Bronze Age kingdom that Homer associated with Menelaus.
