Banu Ka'b

Also known as Bani Ka'b, Chaab

The Banu Ka'b are an Arab tribe of Khuzestan in south-western Iran who rose to power in the eighteenth century around Fallahiyeh, now Shadegan. As Safavid authority collapsed they built a sheikhdom with a river fleet on the Shatt al-Arab, challenging Persian and Ottoman forces. Their Muhaysin branch founded the port of Mohammerah, later ruled by Sheikh Khaz'al until 1925.
